When I started my talk, I asked everyone to close their eyes and take a few deep breaths. I played the “Breathe it in” song to do the breathing exercise.
I told the ladies that it was time to let go of the stress and tension in their bodies, and focus on their breath.
The topic for this talk was “Pain Management – A Different Perspective”. Though a pharmacist by qualifications, a lot of the information that I shared during that talk was from my personal journey as a woman diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I also got to share my perspective on pain management from learning Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts in the Peristeam Hydrotherapy course that I am currently studying.
We also talked about how we can decrease our levels of inflammation through diet and exercise. We talked about how this can help us reduce stress levels as well as improve circulation throughout our bodies.
We talked about the importance of having a digestive system that works properly so that we can absorb nutrients from the food we eat and stay healthy overall. We also talked about grounding ourselves in nature by spending time outdoors every day if possible or taking short walks around our neighbourhoods when necessary.
The last point I made was that emotions are important – they’re part of who we are – but they can also manifest in our bodies if they aren’t managed properly!
We ended off the talk by shaking off any tensions through a vibey song!
I also got to share my new journey as a Menstrual Cycle Mentor and what it entails to be a Certified Peristeam Facilitator.
The talk was followed by tea and nice treats. It was so lovely to chat with another generation of women!
